Sometimes when you are staying in paradise (especially in a country which has wealth issues) there is an element of feeling guilty at your indulgence. Well at Song Saa, from the moment you get whisked off in the luxury speed boat from the main land you are educated about how the development of Song Saa resort is massively helping the local community. Sometimes you have slight communication issues with the staff - but surely it is better to put up with this knowing your are supporting and giving un-heard of opportunities to the locals than by importing westernized staff? Well i think so...
And as for the place it lives up to everything - the food was fabulous and the presentation thoughtful, the villas well i clapped like an excited child when i saw mine! The beach was small but intimate but it is the thought that goes into using its amazing location that struck me as world class. From four poster beds hidden in the jungle yet overlooking the beach, to the sunloungers lapping in the shallow water, the bean bags scattered across the bay, the swinging cocktail beds where you can watch the amazing sunset - the restaurant floating on wooden stilts - it blew me away.
You can do as much or as little as you want. But i highly recommend the trip to 7km beach through kayaking in the Mangroves.
Thank you for restoring peace and positive energy into my life Song Saa - I am ready to face another London day!!
